Episode 8: Rejection to Identity

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” -Proverbs 9:10

Friends, I’m sure you’ve felt the pain of rejection at some point in your life: You’re not invited to a friend’s birthday party, you didn’t make the team, your family ignores you or you feel out of place at church or the work place. It’s a terrible feeling. Some of us even experience rejection over and over again until we wonder if there is something wrong with us. My friend, Carla Hunt, personally knows the pain of repeated rejection. She shares her story of how God met her and set her free from rejection. She found her identity in him and learned to value his voice above those around her. If you need healing from rejection, this episode is especially for you! 1. Thank you for sharing Uncle Rick! Life is a learning process, isn’t it? Our prayers do change over time as a result. As we mature, what we talk to God about changes, which is good I think. Sometimes we do need to walk away from people… painful but true! Blessings to you!

  2. Amen. I think we sometimes forget we are strangers in a foreign land; we’re not supposed to feel comfortable on earth.

But we are able to enjoy peace, hope and a joy which never ends when we do as Philipians 4:8 reminds and keep focusing on all that is good and right and pure.

We certainly recognise the pain of your friend feeling rejected.

With families on both sides rejecting us for our desire to follow Christ, it can often feel lonely as they chose to either walk away from us or simply be unecessarily cruel – leaving those people behind was a good and righteous thing for us.

God has showered us with spiritual aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas as we needed them throughout our lives.

    1. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience Andy! You are right that this earth is not our home… that is a good reminder! All believers feel the pain of rejection at some point because Jesus did. It hurts, but he comforts us. I’m sorry to hear of the rejection from your family, but I am so thankful that God has provided you with spiritual family when you needed it. So beautiful!
