Convalescent Convoy

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” -1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Welcome to 2022! I hope this new year finds you all in good health and full of hope. After a long holiday break, I am happy to jump back into writing with some fresh inspiration. As most of you have heard, the nation of Canada has launched a worldwide movement for freedom. What started out as just a group of truckers pushing back against their vaccine mandate, has snowballed into a full-fledged fight for freedom. The Canadian people have come out in droves to support the trucking convoy. When the Australians saw the Canadian Convoy, they were inspired and quickly organized their own, which is growing like wildfire! The Freedom Convoy 2022 is sweeping the world as other nations are rushing to organize and launch their own, in hopes of bringing an end to tyrannical mandates. As I was watching the events in Canada unfold, I heard the song “Convoy” by Paul Brandt. I had never heard the song before, but since it had a catchy tune, it became stuck in my head for days. However, the song in my head was not playing the correct lyrics. I kept hearing the phrase “convalescent convoy” to the tune of the song. I found this to be silly, so I ignored it for a few days. When I couldn’t get it out of my head, I started to realize that God might be speaking something to me about these convoys. When I finally looked up the definition of “convalescent,” I was delighted!

I knew “convalescent” was a medical term, but I had no clue what it meant. Convalescent is defined as the “gradual recovery of strength, health, and wellness after illness or injury” (Law Insider). I realized God was showing me that Canada is coming back to life as a nation after almost two years of sickness. This means more than just a physical sickness from people fighting COVID. The spiritual condition of Canada has been in a state of illness caused by tyrannical oppression. Though Canada is considered a free nation, it has now become a police state with strict enforcement of inhumane mandates, such as the forced isolation of healthy people in quarantine hotels in undisclosed locations. Even though the nation is injured by oppression, the Freedom Convoy is bringing about a gradual recovery of the health and strength of the Canadian people. As the semi trucks rolled on from Vancouver, B.C. across the vast nation, the heart of the people began to be revived with hope. Their strength is growing as more and more people are coming to the aid and support of the truckers. Canada is recovering its vitality by the day. The people are remembering why they love their country and their culture. Love, unity, peace and goodwill are blossoming in the hearts of the people and they will not be stopped.

The Australian Convoy is gradually healing and strengthening the Aussie spirit as well. The young and old are coming together to sing their national anthem and stand up for the freedoms which are being stripped away from them. Australia is also known as a free nation, however their government is now forcibly detaining healthy people into quarantine “camps.” Though their country is being assaulted by oppression, their spirit is being revived. The people are taking their country back and they will not be stopped! This “convalescent convoy” is sweeping across the nations of Europe and the world. As the everyday people of each nation come together in unity to fight for freedom, they will regain their health and strength to reclaim what the enemy has stolen from them. The nations are being reborn and their cultures will be restored, redeemed and reformed. God’s hand is moving in the middle of all this. Can you see it?

Our God is a God of freedom. In 2 Corinthians 3:17, Paul says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” Jesus sets people free from bondage, “so if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). Make no mistake about it, when there is a struggle for true freedom, Jesus is on the side of the people fighting for it. I believe this Freedom Convoy is a strategy from heaven to overcome the oppressive enemy and it will ultimately succeed. How do we know God is behind this? God moves in ways that we often do not expect and through people the world has overlooked. Truck driving is one of the most humble ways to make a living. A couple of people in my family have worked as truck drivers. It’s a tough, lonely job with long hours. It is often a thankless job that no one notices, yet it’s a vital lifeline for the economy of many nations. God has chosen the truck drivers as his freedom army because the world would never have thought to. The Apostle Paul explains: “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). The so-called “wise” of this world likely see truckers as foolish, weak, lowly and despised. However, God is delighted to choose these truckers to shame them! God is using them to humble the prideful. The godless will despise and mock this movement. The religious will judge it as ungodly because most truckers are rough around the edges and cuss like sailors. When the godless and religious are against it, you can be sure that Jesus is initiating and driving this Freedom Convoy. As a result, these truckers are becoming heroes!

How will this Freedom Convoy movement impact us? Practically speaking, disruptions are coming to our supply chains. An American Convoy from L.A. to D.C. is being planned as we speak! Every nation where this “convalescent convoy” touches will never be the same. The people will be empowered to rise up together in strength and love to gain back their freedoms. This is not a time to be afraid, but rather to rejoice! Praise God that he is fighting for us and the tide is turning! Stay in peace and prepare for food and material shortages. Ask the Lord for wisdom in how to prepare and in what ways he wants you to support this movement. Maybe you are itching to jump in your car, truck or camper, wave your country’s flag and join the convoy… go for it! For those who can’t drive in the convoy, consider donating money or supplies. Feel free to wave your flags or signs in support as the convoy passes through your town or city. This is our movement for freedom. Every one of us can play a special part in reviving the soul and spirit of our nations. We will face opposition from the enemy, but “if God is for us, who can be against us” (Romans 8:31)? Let’s roll on and let freedom ring!
