“Joseph stored up grain in great abundance, like the sand of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured.” -Genesis 41:49
Happy August Overcomers! I hope you’re all enjoying your summer (or winter) season. Even though there is so much going on in the world right now, don’t forget to enjoy the few special moments we have with friends and family. Take time this month to soak in a sunrise or sunset, smell the flowers, smile at the sunshine, laugh with friends and family, and spend some quiet moments in God’s presence. As you do this, you will lay up little treasures in your memory bank that will be sources of joy for the years to come. I could now spend precious time giving my thoughts on the unsavory aspects of the Olympics, but I’m tired of the drama (as I’m sure you are). Let the Holy Spirit lead you in how you respond to it all. Instead, I will share prophetic words, insights and memories from the two great states of Iowa and Wisconsin. Enjoy!

Iowa: is “chosen by me,” is what I heard the Lord say. As we drove across this state, I got the sense that Iowa is clean, washed by the blood of Jesus. Iowa also plays a key role in feeding the nation of America. We first made our way into downtown Sioux City, which feels like church denomination central. After that, we drove through Des Moines on August 12, 2023. The Iowa State Fair was happening, which is apparently the largest state fair in the country. We drove all around the perimeter of the fair grounds looking for parking, which was nearly impossible to find for our van (people were charging around $20 for cars to park in their yards). As I was looking up fair info online, I found out both President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were there at the exact same time as us battling for this state. As much as we really wanted to get into the fair to see all the action, we eventually gave up looking for parking and decided we really didn’t have much time to be there anyway. That day, I felt very strongly that President Trump would win Iowa in the primary election against Governor DeSantis… and he did! It was amazing to be there at that very pivotal moment in time to pray in faith for President Trump’s victory.
As we drove through northern Iowa, I had a strong impression that revival is coming to that region. In the Spirit, I could see the farmers gathering together in barns and homes for worship, Bible study and fellowship. The Fivefold ministry will be operating there. The Lord will give them greater honor because they have been despised, though they feed America. I sensed strongly that the next generation of farmers will have a Joseph anointing and wisdom for the times ahead. Praise God for our farming families in Iowa!

Wisconsin: “feels like home.” I felt God’s grace over this state. I was particularly excited to go to Wisconsin because it was my first time seeing were my Grandma Eunice grew up and visiting my cousins on their home turf. My Grandma was born and raised in the small town of Deer Park and had family in the surrounding towns of Clear Lake and Amery. We stay in Amery and drove around to the other towns and explored the area. The people and culture reminded me so much of my Grandma! I know we still have relatives in the area and though I asked around, I wasn’t able to get in touch with anyone, unfortunately. We did visit the cemetery nearby where my German ancestors are buried, which was an interesting, reflective experience. My Grandma’s favorite place from home was Bone Lake, which is about a 40-minute drive from Deer Park. Her family had a cabin on the lake and she loved swimming there in the summertime. It was simply magical to see the gorgeous lake for myself near sunset. Jesus created a perfect day for us to take in the beauty of the surroundings and imagine what life was like for her back then. I can see why Bone Lake was her happy place… and I will cherish it as well. Next, we met up with my cousin Kaitlyn and her family for lunch on Lake Holcombe. It was so fun to take their boat out on the beautiful lake and ride to the restaurant. After our visit, we drove down to Madison to see my cousin Kellie and her family for dinner and ice cream. We had a wonderful time connecting and strolling down vibrant State Street. It was a joy to spend time with family.
After our family time, we drove to Milwaukee and stayed the night in a parking lot at the fair grounds, which felt pretty sketchy. In spite of that, we really loved Milwaukee! The Historic Third Ward is a lovely area of the city along the river. We particularly enjoyed the Milwaukee Public Market, which is an indoor market with various food and retail vendors. It has such a wonderful atmosphere. If you’re ever in Milwaukee, you have to go! We also walked through Veterans Park on Lake Michigan, which was the first time I have ever seen the great lakes. The park is huge and we decided this would be the perfect place for an outdoor revival worship event! Our last stop was in the adorable town of Cedarburg, which was supposedly voted to be the most charming small town in the United States. It lived up to the hype. The homes and buildings were lovingly cared for and the people were happy. Everything there was beautiful. We also stumbled onto a community event where the children were practicing Irish dancing for their parents in the park. It was heartwarming to see a small community doing something fun together. While in Cedarburg, I saw a dove, which is a sign of peace. I could definitely feel God’s peace in this town. I also saw steps down to the river in the park. There was a father with his daughter on the steps and it reminded me of the Father God. Our heavenly Father carries his sons and daughters down to the river of life. It was a sweet moment.
Thank you for reading along and discovering the nuggets of gold God has hidden in Iowa and Wisconsin. Have a wonderful week and soak up some sun. I look forward to sharing more with you next week!
