Portrait of America in 2024

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” -Hebrews 12:1-2

Happy New Year Overcomers! I truly hope you all enjoyed the holiday season connecting with friends and family. As we look further into this new year of 2024, let’s look to Jesus and his plans. Has the Lord shown you anything about the road ahead? With a high stakes presidential election in November, Americans seem to know this will be an interesting year. You can already feel the early tremors of the shakings to come. While spending time in prayer last December, I heard the Lord speak a word of warning and instruction. Referring to the year ahead, I heard him say something like, “The road is going to be very bumpy. If you pay too much attention to all that is happening around you, you will get sick. Keep your eyes focused on me and you will get through it OK.” With the release of the Epstein and Maxwell court documents at the beginning of January, the kick-off of the primary elections and the border crisis in Texas, it’s obvious that a shake-up is at hand. However, this is just the beginning. There is so much more to come.

When life is constantly in flux and difficulty is all around, it is so challenging to shift your focus from the problems to Jesus. We are human after all. Remember when Peter walked on water with Jesus? When he kept his gaze on God, he did the impossible. The moment he shifted his attention to the intense wind, he began to sink (Matthew 14:28-31). In his mercy, Jesus caught him. Just as Peter struggled to keep his focus on Jesus, it will be hard for us too. However, if we persist in making Jesus our number one focus, we will find his mercy to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). We will also encounter his peace that triumphs over our troubles. His peace will keep us relaxed and ready for whatever will come on this bumpy road ahead.

As I was putting away my Christmas decorations last month, the Lord continued to speak about what was coming this year for America. We, the Body of Christ, will be an unbreakable chain that just keeps growing. There is already so much unity in America that God is building. Can you see it? Those of us who belong to Jesus will be so strongly connected in love that the enemy cannot break us. As revival continues to spread across America, more and more people will join together and stand strong. We will not be defeated!

The Lord spoke another word, as I continued cleaning up. I took down my new hand-painted ornament from Four Corners. It had a dream catcher web on the back with a silver feather on it. I decided to cut the web, but I kept the feather. As I did this, the Holy Spirit spoke that he was cutting and untangling the web of witchcraft over the four corners of America, and the eagles will rise with freedom in their wings. The Lord is going to deal with the Jezebel spirit that has controlled and manipulated behind the scenes in America. The webs will be cut and the mess of lies and destruction will start to be sorted out. The prophetic seers in the Body of Christ are the eagles that will finally rise up to bring freedom to many in America. Jezebel always pursues and destroys the true prophets of God (1 Kings 18:4). However, just as Elijah defeated Jezebel’s prophets on Mount Carmel, so will God’s modern-day Elijah prophets overcome Jezebel’s false prophets of our day (1 Kings 18:16-40). The justice of God is coming soon.

I have heard some say that America is under judgment from God because of sin, but I believe America is on the edge of great revival and reformation. It’s the enemies of God who are about to come under swift judgment, however God’s love and tender mercy is close to the people of America. We are dearly loved by God; a people after his own heart. Love and unity are sweeping across our nation even now. People are laying down their differences and loving their neighbors as themselves (Mark 12:31). We may be in for a rough road this year, and in some ways it’s already here, but we have a great adventure of love, peace, freedom and unity that lies before us. As we run our race in 2024 with our eyes fixed on Jesus’ love, we will truly become “America, the Beautiful.”
